Obituary

RAPID CITY - After 79 years blessed with family, friends, love and laughter, our beloved Donna Kaye Anderson passed August 2, 2023, at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD surrounded by family and friends. Donna lived her last ten years with Alzheimer’s. We remembered her love and light when she could no longer remember for herself.

Donna was born February 20, 1944, in Merced, California to Donald Charles Carbine and Katherine Margaret Fleming Carbine (Bushinski). Don and Kay eventually divorced and both Donna and her brother D.C. went to live with their dad and his new wife, Fay Brengle Carbine. Donna would be the first to say that Fay’s demonstration of unconditional love for her, D.C., and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren was life changing. Her relationship with her dad and Fay was one of great value throughout Donna’s life and one she would remember until the very end.

Donna was an entrepreneur at heart and always loved a challenge. She worked as the officemanager at Lee’s Appliance in Rapid City for many years. She then went on to own and operateseveral eateries and catering services in Rapid City and Bison, SD. After retiring from the restaurant business, Donna started an elderly care service as well as a pet sitting service in Rapid City, SD. Donna was a member of the Rapid City VFW Post #1273 and the Eagles Club. She also spent time volunteering for Meals on Wheels.

Donna will be remembered for her quick wit, sassy spirit, good humor and big heart. She was anhonest, hardworking, creative, independent woman. She loved road trips, a good game of poker or Oh Hell, an ice-cold red beer, good movies, dirty jokes and great food. She created a lifetime of love and happy memories for her children, grandchildren, friends and extended Johnson Siding family. Donna, also known as “Momma Donna” or “G” will be missed terribly and remembered daily.

She is survived by her children: Jill Brownlee Heiland (Tim), Marcie Brownlee-Kari (Dan), Heather Anderson Allard, Bill Anderson, Dan Hankins. Grandchildren: Amanda Heiland Spivey (Tom), Tim Heiland, Marshall Heiland, Tyler Kari and Jenna Kari. Great grandchildren: Urijah Brooks, Whyatt Brooks, Alyvia Spivey, Akoni Spivey and Landon McDonald.

Donna was pre-deceased by her parents and her younger brother, D.C.

Per Donna’s wishes, there will be no service.
